As in the past, the Doerner Institut chooses its partners in Europe. Within the current framework program Horizon 2020 of the European Commission, the institute is one of three German institutions participating in a large-scale infrastructure program for the research on cultural heritage in Europe. In continuation of the CHARISMA project, which has been successfully finished in the meantime, an organically grown consortium of 23 partners from 12 member states is cooperating under the title IPERION CH (Integrated Platform for the European Research Infrastructure ON Cultural Heritage), running from 2015 to 2019. The consortium has been enlarged by a leading institution from the US which has been active in the field of heritage science for about 30 years.
Heritage science is a multi-disciplinary field of research dealing with different aspects of preserving, understanding and handling our material and immaterial cultural heritage. IPERION CH gathers scientists of natural and human sciences from the laboratories and conservation centers of renowned museums and universities, outstanding national research institutes and unique major research institutions.
